The Arcade Fire Hype- The Hollywood Bowl Show

September 21st, 2007

The Arcade Fire

So I saw The Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, and Wild Light last night. Here is the summary of the concert in one paragraph. The Arcade Fire: AWESOME except the Napoleon Dynamite look alike wasn’t rocking the glasses. They live up to all the hype and deserve every bit of credibility people give them. LCD Soundsystem was way better than expected. What a solid band. James Murphy can hit those notes live too. The only thing about them, that could be good or bad, is that Asian Synth player. Damn it’s so hard to keep a straight face and keep from breaking down in tears laughing when she is doing backing vocals in North American Scum and dancing on stage. It kind of ruins the coolness of the band. Look at this video below and you can see what I am talking about.

Ok now on to Wild Light. For every great band that creates an awesome style of music, there are 518975827346587 bad ones who try and imitate. This is the worst of the worst. Imagine a super corny Christian Xmas album that tried to sound like The Arcade Fire, but no one could harmonize or play their instruments live. I personally feel I should have been paid money to sit through such an awful thing. I feel robbed of my dignity having shown up at 7 to see them. Anyway check them out they all have myspaces:

Came across this blog at random. Just wanted to say that I’ve seen Wild Light live a bunch of times and they have always given energetic, polished, and inspiring performances. Of a kickass group of songs. So I dunno where you got that impression.

It was pretty bad maybe I should give them another shot. I bands do have their bad nights. But the first impression was not a good one.
